The annual Mackay Offroad Challenge focuses on getting locals involved in off road driving on the right side of the law. We support the local community over the course of the weekend, utilising volunteers with proceeds being put back into these charities.
The event is held on a 120 acre private property at Cathu. Comprising of different classes, catering for all modified vehicles, they will compete on natural and man-made terrain against time, testing their vehicle capabilities, as well as their skill as a driver and navigator.
The event will include stages running from Friday afternoon through to Sunday afternoon, with the hill drags being Friday night, gully challenges through the day and a cat and mouse stage Saturday night, as well as a top 5 shootout and team challenge on Sunday morning.
The property facilities include gated access, multiple competitor tracks, camping grounds, trade stall vendor shed, food and beverage vendor shed and bar area (BYO only).
The Mackay Offroad Challenge is considered to the best spectator event in Queensland, if not Australia, and as a result we have teams from between Cairns and the Sunshine Coast and spectators who religiously travel for the event.
